I haven't seen it in a while, but I don't remember if Cortez called to resume yet or not either.

I don't have a problem with either guy doing this. Ortiz wanted to hug for two minutes and got popped. Rigo's opponent wanted to complain and got popped. It's a fight, so fight.

You are right, but there's still remains the unwritten code of ethical professionalism and it seems this was violated leaving more of a bitter as supposed to a sweet victory.

      Real talk.

I think Cortez did but he wasnt even paying attention to the fighters. He was looking away. One of the reasons I thought it was rigged. It felt like... "Floyd Im gonna look away and you pop him."

before the 'butt he looked fine. i don't see why he'd be looking for a way out after 30 seconds.

he wasn't ready because he was dazed from the 'butt.

i'm not blaming rigondeaux, just the referee. i think he was negligent towards kokietgym's health and robbed us of a satisfying conclusion to the fight.

I'm not saying it was against the rules or that Rigo should have been DQ'd.

But it WAS a cheap shot, and a completely unnecessary one at that.

It's not worth making a fuss about as Rigo would have won easily anyway, but let's be real, people. It WAS unsportsmanlike, stop making excuses for Rigo.

Sod had already bet on himself to get KO'ed in the first.

                agreed.

fighters never say nothing about **** like this, nor does anyone who ever fought in the past. its a hard game, you arent in there to be buddies. health, legacy and a whole lots of money is at stake, its not a friendly game of trivial pursuit.

if the ref tells you to fight and the other guy leaves himself vulnerable you take advantage every time. thats always the goal, to expose any vulnerability in your opponent.

thai fellow got caught sleeping and got put to sleep proper as a result. meanwhile RiGOD almighty stay winning, praised be his name.

Why wouldnt you think he was looking for a way out? The act job was worse than Broner's vs Maidana.

For those saying it was a sucker punch:

This is the first punch. Or before the first punch. He was protecting himself... clearly.

because the fight had barely begun and he hadn't even taken any punishment yet. there's no reason why he'd quit within 30 seconds of round one. he was clearly distressed from the headbutt and should have been given five minutes to recover.
