The Criticism is not directed at Algieri it is more directed at Arum and Pacquiao to be honest.

I agree that stylisitcally he could present problems for Manny, and I love a good underdog story, but imo Manny should walk through him, if Manny's power, speed, intensity and explosiveness don't trump Algieris superior boxing ability and underrated ring generalship, then Manny truly has gone downhill.

Not to mention there are 4-5 fighters (ignoring the cold war) that are much better opponents. Not only better in that they are a greater challenge, but better because they deserve the shot more.

Which is how it should be. Nothing against Algieri, I don't want to see him fail, but no matter how you slice it, looking at the bigger picture, it's a disgraceful fight for boxing.

Algeri seems like a good dude and it's a great boxing story. But I can't take the praise this guy gets and what he's "achieved" let's be honest depending on how you score a fight, Algeri loses. At best I had it a draw. But my score card had it 7-5 Ruslan. I don't mind it going to him cause everyone judges a fight differently. I like to think you gotta Beat the champ ..not piddle paddle your way to a title...regardless, there shoulda been a rematch right away..he has no business in the ring with Pac. Pac man is one of the most skilled fighters ever. Algeri had a tough time with a fighter who's skills are so limited. manny fights in an out better than any fighter in the game..this is a terrible call ...arum really ****ted on the fans on this one

Also ..if anyone had Algeri winning and tells me it's cause of the skill. Then you guys obviously had Lara winning against Canelo right? Cause it was the same fight!!!!!!!!! And Ruslan had two Knockdowns!!

This is the problem with boxing's cold war. Thurman is a GB fighter until Bob Arum starts playing ball at the other parks expect a lot more trash fights out of TR, who are clearly out of fighters in the WW & JW division for Pacquiao. Pacquiao needs to put his foot to Arum's throat and demand better fights annd start working with GB who hold allthe elite talent at 140-147...he needs to be the guy because he is TR biggest cash cow and fights like this are going to cause his fanbase to die hard. All we can do is hope for the best.

I don't think algeiri is a superior boxer in anyway when compared to Pacquiao but he does move well and has a good jab.

In terms of better opponents, who do you think are realistic for pacman and better than algeiri without including gbp names. I can't think of 4-5 names tbh. Jmm yes but he priced himself out and doesn't have the appetite for pac anymore. A Bradley rematch? No no no.

Pacs best possible opponents are over on showtime sadly.

That's what really makes this a bad choice for Manny's next opponent. Not only is he unproven and therefore not going to get Pac any credit, but he'll probably make Pac look pretty average. Pac can't win no matter what happens.

The reasons it's a bad fight have little to do with whether it will be competitive or not.

Get ready for all time low PPV buys for pac. TR is falling off quickly.
