Comments Thread For: Algieri on Pacquiao Fight Critics: It's Just Sour G****s!

WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) is not bothered by the critics who are bashing his selection as the next opponent for WBO 147-pound champion Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38KOs). The HBO Pay-Per-View fight takes place on November 22nd at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China.

Algieri earned the fight in June with an upset split decision over heavily favored Ruslan Provodnikov.

There are some fans and experts who believe Algieri earned the fight the hard way, but there are also those who view the match as a soft-touch for Pacquiao.

This just comes to show how SCARED Packy is of Marquez.

He will earn way less fighting Algerie than had he fought Marquez, even if Marquez got paid $20 million. With Algerie the ppv buys will be around 350,00 or less, with Marquez its 900,000 to 1,400,000 ppvs. And IF they decide to put the Packy vs Algerie fight on HBO because of the negative feedback, they better be ready to PAY ME to watch it! I fell asleep watching the Provo vs Algerie fight.

Yeah, it's sour g****s. I hate this fight out of jealousy. I wanted Manny to fight me next. I weigh a good 40 pounds more than him and have never thrown a competitive punch in my life, but those are minor obstacles. I deserved the payday.

I would rather see Khan vs Pac, it would be exciting. Pac might actually get a KO after so many years.

No, we're complaining because you are not a good opponent for Manny Pacquiao. For other guys, sure, but not Manny Pacquiao.

Just imagine the reaction if floyd was to fight this guy... so we cant be hypocrites and give manny a pass here.. This fight is trash on all levels and the fact that its PPV its a big "**** you" to fans, this fight should be on CBS for free, we already know the undercard will be atrocious. I hope this crap does less than 200 buys.

I don't believe the obvious cherry picking in this...the nerve talking about Mayweather...this fight is ridiculous...Thurman was the fight.

Where are all the Floyd haters now? It's real quiet on this thread! It is unbelievable that so many haters call Floyd a "cherry-picker," but have nothing to say, or a billion excuses, when it comes to this fight (and Rios too). When is the last time Pac fought a WW champ? Timothy Bradley doesn't count because he took the WW title form Manny, fought a 140 in Ruslan, and another 140 in Marquez, then lost to Manny again! The excuse that "he can't fight them because they're Haymon fighters," is lame because he knew that when he re-signed with TR. Fact is, Manny has been totally irrelevant since the KO, and it's only one way to become relevant again...avenge your KO loss to Marquez.
