Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31KOs) was expecting a lot more when he faced WBC/WBA welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs) in May. Based on Mayweather's pound-for-pound reputation, Maidana thought he was in for a much tougher fight. Mayweather still won more than enough rounds for a twelve round majority decision.
“In my first fight against Floyd, I learned that he’s not that great, he’s not that superhuman boxer everybody talks about. If I wouldn’t have been so anxious looking for the knockout, I would have beat him," Maidana said.
