Comments Thread For: Brian Viloria is Focused on Securing World Title Shot

Former WBO/WBA flyweight champion Brian Viloria aims to win and get himself in line for another title shot when he battles Mexico’s Jose Alfredo Zuniga at the plush Cotai Arena of the Venetian Resort Hotel and Casino in Macau on Saturday.

Well known Australian promoter Peter Maniatis reported from Macau that the 33 year old Viloria is looking to put on an impressive performance against Zuniga which he hopes will lead to another crack at the WBO/WBA belts he lost to Mexico’s Juan Francisco Estrada also at the Cotai Arena in Macau. He gassed out in the 2nd half of the fight like he always does. He's skilled but he's his own worst enemy sometimes.

Anyone thinks a rematch vs Estrada would be different? It seemed to me like he wasn't ready for Estrada or his gameplan. And he couldn't adjust.

          Or am I wrong?

Estrada seems to be a tad bit too much for Brian on any night. Also, Brian is all first half of the fight compared to Estrada who really turns on after the 6th round. Brian was also hurt by Estrada and although Estrada said Viloria has a brutal punch, he wasn't rocked. I think now that Estrada understands Viloria he will coast to a UD or possibly stop him the next time around. He can't outbox Estrada nor pressure him down due to Estrada's versatility in attack and movement as well as the ability to box off the back foot and use lateral movement. Damn… Estrada is one of the most well rounded fighters out

I cant argue with this. You could be right. Maybe it wasn't about Viloria not being well prepared after all. But about Estrada being that much better.

I wasn't really sure so if you say so it must be it.

Haha thanks. Viloria is still a beast! He has a big ol noggin doe
Hope to see him in another title fight. Now that Macau is a location for TR and Pinoy talent I think Brian can land a fight against Amnat/McWilliams winner whether in Asia or US. Or he can take on the Juan Carlos Reveco vs Yodmongkol Vor Saengthep (damn these long names) winner if it does go down. I would prefer McWilliams vs Viloria or Viloria vs Yodmongkol due to their styles. Viloria would truly have a shot at beating either of the four though but Amnat would pose the most trouble seeing as how he is the purest boxing counterpuncher of the bunch.

I can only memorize half the names for the Thai boxers lmao I have to quick search for their last. On the twins, I'm not sure. I'm sure someone can answer that question for us because I would be interested too. Top Rank has the lower weights on lock for the most part. Also, those little guys are often promoted by smaller companies such Promociones del Pueblo, Canelo Promotions, Zanfer, ALA Promotions, etc etc... Smaller in comparison to GBP and TR because I'm sure those companies are making good revenue.
