  • Comments Thread For: Daniel Geale: Golovkin Has Everything To Lose, I Don't

Daniel Geale is set to make a childhood dream come true later this month when he fights Gennady Golovkin at New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Geale will be just the third Australian to fight in the main theatre at boxing’s most hallowed venue on July 26 when he tackles WBA/IBO middleweight champion Golovkin.

“As a kid, I definitely dreamt of fighting at a place like Madison Square Garden, a place that is steeped in so much history and so many great fighters have fought there before,” Geale said.

It's about frustrating him, making it hard for him to land those big punches and, as soon as fatigue starts to set in a little bit, I've been there before and that's where I'l take over.
The "I'll get him in the second half" plans are almost always doomed to fail.

Which is why you didn't fight him when you had a title, because you had something to lose.

Regardless of whether it is accepted or not Geale is a world class competitor at his weight,he knows he isn't a pure boxer, what he laks in finesse he makes up for it with tenacity, workrate, heart, strength.I really fail to see what their is to dislike about Geale.

With Martinez clearly on the decline,Murray and Geale are the best the division can serve up for GGG as a challenge, clearly neither are on his level.will they both be stopped by him ? I don't believe so.

I tend to agree although Murray has failed to impress a great deal since the Maravilla fight (looked poor against Khomitsky but did well against Bursak). With Cotto essentially still unproven at the weight and not looking likely to campaign at 160 and Quillin in no-man's land, Geale -and to an extent Soliman - are probably the best remaining MWs for Golovkin to fight.

Geale is a very good fighter, perhaps underated through a lack of US exposure, and I too will not be very surprised if the fight goes 12 rounds. Geale is quick, skilled and usually very well conditioned.

Nonetheless if I have to make a prediction - GGG by stoppage 8-10.

Cotto and Soliman are up there in the higher echelons of the division,to me they are not the top though.154 careerist taking the fight at 159 please...... I like Cotto, but he is largely unproven at this weight.

Murray beat Maravilla,IMO.this isn't about me being a Murray fan,you won't find a bigger Sergio fan on the site,I like all the top guys at the weight,Sturm,Soliman,Geale etc, their actually isn't many i dislike, and I neither particularly like one guy more than another, truth be told i love the division as a whole.

Quillin I do not rate as world class,he has to prove this against a legitimate challenge,I very much doubt he will ever step up.how can anybody warm to him I do not know.

Yeh you're right Murray was poor that that night, understandably so if truth be told.he has had all kinds of problems in and out of the ring.I don't actually believe he beat Sturm, for me he beat the champion last year though, that must have hurt psychologically.
