Comments Thread For: Maidana Relishing Second Chance At A Lasting Impression

By Jake Donovan - Prior to this point, Jose Luis Castillo was the only fighter in 18 years to get two shots at handing Floyd Mayweather his first defeat. Like Castillo before him, Marcos Maidana made the most of his first opportunity, pushing Mayweather to the brink before coming up just short on the scorecards.

The fight was entertaining and competitive enough to where the Argentine tough guy gets a chance to do it all again. Maidana isn’t simply content with the September 13 rematch; he embraces the opportunity as a second chance at a lasting impression.

“I think many fighters are obsessed with Mayweather. Everybody wants to fight him because they get the chance to make history if they win. And I want to make history,” Maidana insisted during Tuesday’s press conference in Chicago, the third stop of a five-city press-tour to promote their upcoming rematch at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Many a fighter has talked tough when it came to pondering the prospects of a showdown with the sport’s pound-for-pound and box-office king. Prior to May, none had truly walked the walk. Castillo came closer than anyone, fighting to what many believed to have been a relatively even fight in their April ’02 encounter. [Click Here To Read More]

How can a true boxing fan not like Maidana? Great attitude, great work ethic. Yeah, some fouls last fight. So what? Floydie fouls too, but Floydie fan-bwaaays never acknowledge that. Can't wait for Sept.! War Chino! KO the bum!

After reading this article I couldn't help but think of RJJ vs Tarver II. I was a huge RJJ fan and like most thought he simply had an off night during the first Tarver fight. Wonder if this scenario will play out in similar fashion.

You have never trained a day in your life and you're a little *****......

Floyd will school Maidana....You're not even rating Mayweathers boxing ability in a fair unbiased way because you are SO butthurt at his arrogant personality....You are probably one of those **** who thought Matthyse was going to kill Garcia because you hated Angel Garcia....LOL

I love that he mentions managing distance. We outboxed him in the first fight and won, this one will be a savage beating with sparring gloves. That coward is gonna get it. If he has to die, he has to die. I don't give a ****!!

Maidana is a warrior, but Floyd will adjust and beat him comfortably this time around.

maidana only has a chance if he is allowed to use the legal commisions punchers glove that mayweather didnt want him to use the first fight.
