I hope floyd realizes Resto's glove had almost zero padding in them and had the horsehair removed. Resto was basically punching without wearing gloves.. whereas Maidana's gloves were still 8oz gloves that were legal. This was the result

Floyd and his fans should also realize what an ******* he is to make that sort of comment, knowing that Collins eventually took his own life after never recovering from that fight. Floyd had always been known to stay ****** and outlandish things, but even this is low for him.

Yes, fighters ask for different gloves all the time. Recent fighters that had these provisions in all their contracts are Pacquiao, Morales and Barrera. But Floyd's histrionics in this case are way beyond anything I've seen before. I just don't understand why he was so worried about a 140 lb fighter coming up in weight wearing the gloves of his choice, especially given Floyd's defensive skills. I really can't believe he was worried enough to pay $1.5 million. It is weird. And stuff like this interview is disturbing. Floyd looks completely divorced from reality. Either he is crazy and believes that this really is a Resto-like situation, or he is crazy and thinks boxing fans are dumb enough to believe that.
I never realized he payed 1.5 million to change that. Not that I don't believe you but can you post a link? If that's the case, I stand corrected.

I would also guarantee that Floyd paid Maidana a similar "bonus" this time around so that Maidana couldn't wear his preferred gloves come September.

Paying off Maidana on this issue makes it clear that Floyd knows he is in the wrong and has to pay money to get his way. He is talking now to deflect from the fact that he paid Maidana to not wear the puncher's gloves. For a guy that wants to be considered an all-time great, this is pretty sad behavior. I don't remember Sugar Ray Leonard asking Duran to wear different gloves before they fought. Or more strikingly, he didn't try that when he went up to middleweight to fight Hagler. But Floyd won't let a 140 lber wear his preferred gloves? Wow.

And, the comparison to Resto and Margarito is disgusting and pathetic. Another sad floyd diatribe.
You don't remember because boxing fans in that era were not internet biyatches that complain about everything done.

SRL gave Hagler 50/50 split in exchange for the 20X20 ring. In the 30 for 30 he said he gave Duran $10 mil for the rematch just to get him in the ring so quickly because he knew he was partying. SRL used his money power to get advantages in his 2 biggest fights-does that diminish him in your eyes in any way. Of course not, nor should it.

Homie, nothing floyd does, repeat NOTHING, is new. Its all been done before.

If the gloves caused maidana to lose, then he lost for the same reasons duran and Hagler lost to SRL-they took the money. Can't blame anyone but themselves. (and belive me it pains me to type that because i LOATHE SRL and Hagler is my favorite fighter ever).

Floyd has fought many fighters also punchers (Cotto/Canelo) so why in the hell would he be afraid to let Maidana wear his gloves if something wasn't wrong with them?

The first pair were not allowed so that means the gloves were ILLEGAL people and that probably made Mayweather even more with the second pair even though they were ok'd. Maidana tried everything he could to beat Mayweather so I'm not doubting for a minute that they went in with the intentions of hurting Mayweather. Only dumb asses would call that a scared move on Floyd's part. So he is supposed to let Maidana wear his gloves to show he ain't scared? Maidana had to get penalized for the B.S. he pulled, straight like that. Not talking to you in particular but just the topic in itself.
Grus I found the Resto reference to be in poor taste because that was a crime. The Margs stuff I got (especially the TR barbs). But the Conn resto thing wasn't a fight, it was an aggravated assault that compromised everything great about this sport.

I knew what the point floyd was making, I just don't think any reference to that fight is warranted.

He is accurate about the Everlast's but on the other end he wears 1 of the 2 most padded, Grant, the other being the Japanese gloves Winning...

Not really homie...you from the bricks?

But yo, I think FMJ is really quite a rational and composed dude when it comes to his craft, in and outside the ring. What some folks see as whining and crying and making a big deal, I see as a man handling his business and not letting folk put **** over on him. Margarito was relative...so was Resto.

This is frankly the most shameful and embarrassing post by any of the floydtramps in here.

Hearing Floyd talk is so hilarious I swear. He's such a p*ssy, sounds p*ssier every time he opens his mouth. I'm sorry but he's not the face of this sport. He's a coward.

The A-side fighter (which happens to be Mayweather for this fight) usually gets what he wants..period. Fck all that safety sht Floyd was talking about. People need to quit acting like they're brand new to the sport of boxing because of their dislike of a fighter.
Another one who thinks its ok. Yay! Go floyd and stuff!....

I've said to you and others if timing is your issue-i'm fine with it. if egomaniacal power play is your issue-cool. If your mad chino couldn't wear his gloves-stop whining and move on.

As for people making a big deal-you don't even believe that. There is a 100 post thread going because floyd said he didn't know who Ronda Rousey is.
