Comments Thread For: Mayweather, Showtime Brass Justify Choice of Maidana

It took more than two months to officially declare that Floyd Mayweather’s next opponent would be the same as his last, as he faces Marcos Maidana on September 13 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. It even took more than an hour past the promised 1:00pm start time for their press conference to begin at Times Square in New York City.

What didn’t take very much effort, however, was justifying why Mayweather agreed to just the second rematch in a Hall of Fame career spanning 18 years and approaching his 47th prize fight.

No need to justify it. The first was among the hardest fights Mayweather's ever fought in. He knows this, otherwise he wouldn't fight the rematch. He doesn't care about the fans.

Mayweather isn't going to run, I've never seen Floyd fight like Lara did the other night.

Even Floyd knows to win a fight when the other guy is making the fight, you have to engage and sit on some punches, you can't just land jabs and run around.

he pretty much ran from Castillo in the rematch.

                No....he didn't

Running to me is when you basically don't even throw any power shots aside from a few a round, and just jab and run/hold. Floyd even at his youngest when he could move around a lot more, would sit on his punches and land telling power shots, whether it was right hands or left hooks, etc.

                Lara didn't do that.

Granted, Floyd didn't engage near as much in the Castillo rematch, he still didn't do what Lara did last saturday.

Chino and Rob know the only way to beat Floyd is to throw in as many dirty tactics without getting caught and penalized.

Otherwise, ain't no chance Maidana's going to win.

                    Everyone knows it.
