Floyd is doing it most likely because he feels it gives him a mental advantage-which is likely the same reason ODH did it-which undermines your point above.

Its simple-A sides do things like choose gloves and pick ring size to give themselves a better chance to win. Guess what-your favorite fighter, whoever that fighter is,if he is the a side, has done the same things and other stuff at some point.

As cotto made clear this is what fighters works toward-being able to dictate to the opponent.

Thats how he tends to operate since he got in the captains chair. Of course it would be refreshing and better for the sport if he used this position to elevate the sport instead of just himself.

In some ways, absolutely. Floyd seems to use his power to always show people he is the biggest guy in the sport. we all know this and to continue to operate in this fashion is pointless IMO. Power and money have made far more stable people than floyd act like this so its not a real surprise.
