for example floyd is looking to become a promoter and to run his own company once he retired from boxing. this is why floyd is pushing and is trying to build his brand up. pac is not looking to do this, this is why manny spend less time trying to invest himself into boxing.

Some of you need to understand the business side of boxing from an athletes perspective.

You're saying PAC should have chosen to be a free agent.
You think it's that easy?

PAC chose to resign because he was getting guaranteed money (per fight deals)... for 6 fights. Key word... GUARANTEED.

As a free agent, nothing is guaranteed after the fight. On top of that, PAC is a politician and doing stuff on the side. So he is busy outside of boxing. I don't personally agree with all of PAC's extra activities,.. but unfortunately, that's his choice.

Pac's reputation and track record is his guarantee! Cotto didn't have a guarantee and he can't draw flies compared to Pac, yet somehow he knew it wold work for him. Pac is busy outside of the ring, that's what you have a REAL manager or advisor for? One that has your best interest at heart...like Al Haymon.

With Arum, he made a lot of money. So he's happy with that arrangement and ok with Arum taking care of the business side of things.

Why do NBA players seek long term contracts... seek the extra year for guaranteed salary? It's called security.

What you forget to mention is that they ALL shop around and find the best deal possible..only then do they make the decision. Something Pac didn't do!
