Thurman has a lot of respect for Maidana btw, check out this interview:

Somewhere in there he says he's gonna put money on Maidana to beat Floyd even though he favours Floyd to win

Thurman would box Maidana's head off, attack the body for the first half of the fight and stop him late probably with a liver shot.
If Thurman drops Maidana it would probably be his biggest mistake, Maidana would come back an enraged demon.

Thurman would probably hit Maidana in the head early often but if he doesn't stop him in the first few rounds Maidana would adjust and take away his jab and straight, and bully him to the corner and turn his body into jello with vicious shots and lift Thurman off his feet with savage uppercuts.

Then why didn't he man? Why did he duck Thurman and fight Soto Karass instead?

Maybe Maidana didn't want to end his career like that.

From the sounds of it, Thurman is the same way; if he gets dropped, he also gets more scary and dangerous.
