I'd like to apologize to Canelo and the Mexican fan base in general.....

I was saying the whole lead up that both were good fighters, but that Lara would embarrass him. I was way way way wrong.

Now even though Canelo didn't light it up and dominate....he did what he had to and won. Lara disappointed me tonight, but I'm still a fan of his obviously.

But Canelo is legit. I was saying the whole time before Trout last year, that Trout was going to out box him with ease....I was wrong. It was a close fight, but Canelo dropped him and did what he had to do to win against a guy coming off beating Cotto, and a guy who's hard to look good against.

Canelo then beat Angulo, another fight I thought would be 50-50 honestly given how Angulo gave Lara hell and dropped him twice....Canelo beat his ass.

And now he's beaten Lara in a close fight, another guy it's hard to look good against.

Give the kid his credit, I will be doing so from now on. Major props to Canelo beating the top 154 fighter around.

He got whooped by Floyd and arguably lost to Trout and Lara. Lol kid has the judges in his pockets at 23. That's the only thing I give him props for.

Lol not hard to see your blatant bias

Canelo beat Trout, though it was close. He beat Angulo down. He beat Lara, though it was close but clear IMO.

And people said he'd get schooled by two of those guys. These are good fighters by the way.

Funny to see people still refusing to give him credit. There's no shame is getting schooled by Mayweather.

I don't think any less of him after this performance. He took a dangerous fight and fought his heart out. It's not like Lara schooled him, either. He proved himself as the legit 154 champ imo.

While I do think that Canelo is a good fighter, I agree that he does benefit from the judges. The fights against Lara and Trout, two very close fights, had at least one very bad scorecard widely in his favor. Hell, even when he was practically shut out against Floyd one judge still managed to score it a draw.

It's okay, I knew Lara was a bit overrated, honestly. He is a bit inconsistent and when you think he should dominate certain opponents, he struggles or is evenly matched. People give him a bit too much credit, but he is a good fighter. It was a good fight, but Lara was strictly defensive minded and has the amateur points mindset, and offensively would not do much for entire rounds. I think the cut freaked him out, too. I don't think it's acceptable to literally run 10-15 feet away from your opponent and call that boxing, at least stay within punching range. I can respect the boxing style, but put some offense behind it. I didn't think Canelo would win before the fight, but I scored it 7-5 for Nelo. I gave Lara rounds 1, 2, 3, 10, and 12.
