I think they took this fight to see how Mares reacts to a good punch and to display Mares new and improved defense Anyway Mares was a good boxer/puncher under Beristain, hope he returns to his roots under Hunter and picks up on some new tricks as well. Team Mares all day!

Totally forgot he's under Hunter now. Hope he doesn't become a clinch machine.

but come on, Oquendo, such a step down, after all that talk of a rematch etc

I hope Gonzalez hasn't found the ***** in Mares

And to think people were comparing Mares to Froch on here smh
You're an idiot. Look at his last 5-6 fights. All top notch. He can't take a less competitive fight but Mayweather, Garcia, Pacquiao, Cotto, etc, can? FOH kid. He's smart. He's coming off a KO loss. You don't rush into things. You make a come back fight then start aiming higher again. You rookies make me laugh. Lol

My points were: I never had him as a top 10 p4p
Secondly, he should never be compared to frock as he was at the time

Also, he can take tune ups but after getting humiliated he was the one who said he would take a rematch and then took almost a year off and didn't make any noise... But hey I like his style just hope he hasn't lost his balls
