Maidana was only looking for a tuneup fight after his loss to Alexander and that's why Thurman was picked at first. It's not like Thurman just suddenly wanted to fight Maidana because he lost. Thurman obviously still wants to fight him, though.

Also, I'm pretty sure what Thurman was saying is that he doesn't blame Maidana for ducking a dangerous fighter like himself.
