I may not be against Pac/Algeiri matchup but Im not fully dismissing it. I think the actual fight will be entertaining. But its sad that Pac is now a victim of his own fame. He set his spectator's standard so high.

I 100% agree. Boxing loses out to many of the other mainstream sports when it comes to kids choices on what to pursue. Boxing is typically for the poor underdog who came from nothing, as where tennis or golf are for rich kids and even hockey, football and baseball etc are not typically known as sports dominated by the children of the poorest families (although there are some exceptions of course). Boxing, you have to fight your way to the top so it's not exactly the choice of kids who have a variety of options. Someone like Algieri can bring the story of someone with many options who doesn't need the money and is in it truly for the trill of competition and sport. Not to mention he picked up the sport extremely late and is now a world champion and how he won the belt was not short of drama worthy of decades of the sweet science. He himself said, it's not about the money, and his team kept reiterating that point. Fight might not sound like the best but I agree it is a good story, the young undefeated underdog who is financially comfy and started late but is in it because he chose to compete, against the legendary little poor boy from the Philippines whom was broke when he fought his way to the top as he chose fighting as a means to take care of his family.

Hopefully Algieri's story can attract more types of people to pick up boxing at a late age as a career. Plus he's a champ now, knocked off a tough customer in Ruslan and has proven he can fight. I say let's do it!!

Wow...well done. Best elaboration I've seen yet supporting Bob's "Great Storyline" theory, which I can only assume is his strategy to expand his sales to Caucasians and the Chinese market.

When I try to analyze what the hell the man is thinking, I can only assume Bob's rationale is that sometimes it's not always about just being focused on making U.S. PPV numbers but instead thinking outside the box, developing new customers, and envisioning the long term future in an expanded, growing market.

Personally, I don't care for this matchup and there are obviously better opponents who will make better PPV numbers. But if that fight is made I'll still watch it, even if streamed. After all Algieri does have a notable win, is a top ten ranked fighter, and is not just a blatantly soft touch Salsa-like opponent.
