The Sheffield welterweight has finally got the date for his long-awaited shot at IBF champion Shawn Porter.

Brook, 28, will take on the American in California on August 16.

And he is hoping to beat Porter and then force bitter rival Khan into a fight next year.

I don't think anyone is worried about Brook. Porter will just do an early job on Brook and take him out of there although I would have loved to see Brook fighting Khan.

No, if you beat Porter, you will be somebody and Khan will have a reason to fight you. Right now he doesn't.

I don't know I'm kind of two sided about the whole thing.

Brook is the best 'boxer'. That's for sure. He also has more power I would say. Porter has been in with better competition in terms of Alexander and Malignaggi. Before that, nobody was really hyping him up - but that also shows just how much a couple of decent wins can do for you.

Porter is stronger though, I think that's the case. It's actually a very good fight. On paper at least.

So far Brooks has been fighting corpses and this is the first time he will be fighting someone with a pulse. Some of the corpses Brooks fought hit back and broke his nose and showed he wasn't really all that. Porter is a live dog who can actually bite so it will be interesting.

If Brooks for any reason was to pull this off then no doubt I would give him his props.

I agree he's been fighting bums mostly. But before Alexander, porter's resume wasn't better than brook's. He also struggled with Diaz.

I don't think Brook will win either, but he seems confident which I like. Porter seems to be overlooking him, believing a little in his own hype. That could be dangerous.

Maybe it's just confidence, but we'll see. It's a good fight.

If Brook wins, which I believe he has the ability to do so but he has to be right in the head.

Anyway, if he wins then Khan would take the fight if May/Pac falls through. It's the only big fight left for him.

The big question is, who does he fight this year?
