Rising welterweight prospect Prichard “Digget” Colón has been added to the August 9 show at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The unbeaten knockout artist from Puerto Rico will appear on the undercard in supporting capacity to the planned Showtime-televised tripleheader headlined by Danny Garcia’s defense of the lineal 140 lb. championship versus fringe contender Rod Salka.
The bout marks Colón’s first career fight in New York, and just his second fight outside of Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic since turning pro last February. It’s also the second time he appears on the same card as Garcia, their previous shared bill taking place this past March when Garcia fought in Puerto Rico for the first time in his career.
“It’s an honor for me to fight on a big stage like the Barclays Center in Brooklyn,” Colón (10-0, 10KOs) told Boxingscene.com Wednesday afternoon. “It’s my New York debut and once again on the same show as another title defense of our Puerto Rican champion, Danny Garcia.
