Do they? I'm not sure... Also take into consideration Castro's ban on professional sports.

PR literally per population is the beast in terms of boxing... A tiny island of 3.6 million to Mexico's 120.8 million

So to be as good as PR mexico would have to have 33.5 times more Hall of Famers' and current champions that what PR does...

    Boom! Simple as that

Texas should produce more champs than Rhode Island no???
I did not know that 120 mill mexicans like box (practice) i thought Soccer was the #1 sport in Mexico, baseball is the biggest sport in the north of part of mexico, and so on so forth

I understand that but you still haven't absorbed the wealth and opulence of the west. People in Cuba are still hungry, strong and motivated.

In Mexico, that happens because of poverty and culture. Mexicans have always been and always will be warriors at heart. It's the reason MMA is taking off in Mexico, they just like fighting.

If Cuba ever becomes ********ic, and the people aren't suffering the way they are now, things will change. People become soft and lazy. It's the reason I don't have rich little kids coming into my gym, just poor kids from the ****** mostly.

Cuba will still produce great boxers, I'm just saying that what you have seen in the past 40 years IS a by product of the communist system.

Okay. Mexico is about 10 times the population of Cuba, so Mexico should have 10 times more champs, right? Cuba has about 20 champs all-time, Mexico has about 200. So?

Not to mention all the non-Mexicans that are a part of Mexico's population. I don't think Cuba has many foreigners. You could flip things a million different ways.

I couldn't care less who has the better boxing school. I think they're both great.

But yes, your numbers show that Cuba is the greatest of all-time at everything. I'm grateful to be in your presence, thank you.

I do understand, one in a million rich kid will want to put a pair of boxing gloves and fight for a living, barrera I think is one of them, but all those kids that you had seen in the past 50+ years are the same that will still fight if Democracy lands in Cuba, the ones from the ******, none of them want it to be doctors, teachers or engineers and they could have because education in Cuba is free, in any case we agreed that only the kids from the ****** will want to make their life better by using the sport as a spring board to success, how many will succeed? I really don't know, I only have history to make an educated guess, but it is a guess after all...

Son, castro had Cuba apart from professional sports for half a century, do you think that if they were allow to fight professionally the number could had been a little higher?

The fact is, Mexico is pretty good at boxing.
No doubt, I'm not denying that Mexico has learned from Cuba. I don't see the connection in his example though. Maybe he left out some info.
Cuba produces great boxers. So does Mexico.

I don't give a dime, I have an intelligent conversation with a few of my fellow posters instead of arguing or trying to refute things that are not that refutable, why don't you read and learn? For real how old are you? Because I really don't care how many Champions Cuba had in the past, I'm enjoying this time because for the first time in over 50+ years I have a few countrymen doing some noise, who do you think are my favorites fighters for the past 50 years?
