Chris Algieri, of Long Island, has offer to fight Manny Pacquiao in China in November

It's a huge opportunity for the local fighter who came up in club shows and cutting his teeth at the Paramout Theatre in Huntington. The offer is for seven figures on HBO Pay-Per-View.

Bob Arum of Top Rank has made a formal offer to Long Island's Chris Algieri to face Manny Pacquiao on Nov. 22 in Macao, China, continuing a string of incredible good fortune for the Huntington native, the Daily News has learned. Arum and Algieri's promoter, Joe DeGuardia said an agreement could be reached in the coming days.

"We have a Pacquiao offer on the table and we are negotiating that actually as we speak," DeGuardia said in a phone interview Tuesday afternoon. "And I expect that we're going to have a resolution within the next day or two."
DeGuardia declined to go into details on the deal but said it's a seven-figure offer to Algieri, who would be rising in weight to challenge Pacquiao for his WBO welterweight belt. The bout will be shown on HBO Pay-Per-View at the Venetian Casino, where Pacquiao fought Brandon Rios last year.

Arum expects to talk to DeGuardia again Wednesday and said that Artie Pelullo, who has options on Algieri, is traveling to Arum's home in Los Angeles, where Arum is on the mend from knee replacement surgery, to help finalize the deal.
"I hope we'll be able to get Joe on the phone and we'll be able to button this up," Arum said in a phone interview. "We're talking serious now with the idea of making the fight. It's not [BULL]. Now, whether it gets made or not I don't know."

Arum wouldn't say if Algieri (20-0, eight knockouts) is the only fighter he's made an offer to face Pacquiao. DeGuardia wouldn't say, either. "But I can tell you the fight is there for Chris," the Bronx-based promoter said. "The fight is there for Chris."

A fight with Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 knockouts) would be an incredible windfall for Algieri, who's gone from performing in club shows and cutting his teeth at the Paramount Theatre in Huntington to now the top candidate to face Pacquaio. He was impressive in upsetting former WBO junior welterweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov June 14 at Barclays Center, boxing with his right eye completely shut for most of the bout.

"It's the best possible fight out there for Chris," DeGuardia said. "He did great in the Ruslan fight and he did great there but fighting Pacquiao puts him on a completely different level and a win against Pacquiao makes him a star, a legitimate and true star."

And I thought Rob Salka was bad. This would take cherry picking to the extreme.

At least the ppv would bomb though.

They must know the PPV is going to bomb in China anyway so they're just saying "fuk it" and using a terrible match-up

              Gross..

I guess I do have to watch the Algieri Provodnikov fight after all.

I guess they don't care about American PPV numbers as much, those numbers are gonna be atrocious. Have the few bouts they've done in China profited them in other ways? The gate I assume? There's a reason Bob keeps going there with his shows.

What really sucks is that they simply don't have enough options for Pac. Al Haymon doesn't want to work with Arum so there goes that.

Zero interest in this! Nice young man and he should have the smarts to look else where to fund his education.
He will run like deer from Manny and will be a stinker match up!
Can't believe both parties would be interested and as far as ppv numbers my guess is it would bomb!
Their are fellows at the Wild Card gym that would handle this young man, he ran from Rock because of his eye and I give him credit but I don't give Rock any credit for blowing up after the weighins and being in terrible mental & physical condition.
Make the rematch unless theres no interest in it!
                Ray.

Not the best choice but at least its a decent fighter and Algeri has under rated boxing skills. I wouldent be one bit surprised if Algriei pulls it off.
