This. Hopkins is more than likely just waiting this out, which is what he should do. Golden Boy has the name, logo and prestige while Al Haymon has... well a lot of fighters. I would say he has Schaefer and company but that cannot happen because of a no-compete clause until 2018 for Schefer. It might be reversed in court but he can't do a damn thing until it is overturned of he will have to pay that 50 million Oscar is suing him for.

He probably wants to make sure Oscar sets the right people up or if he screws that up he'll jump ship with Haymon. Either way the last thing Hopkins wants to do is fight someone who can challenge him, the last time he did that he got worked by Dawson and before that went with the shoulder injury routine. Hopkins can beat some guys but the guy is done with any top tier 168+ fighter, he was years ago.

well, he has to protect his investments no matter what. if gbp's business suffers, the value of hopkins' gbp shares goes down with it. if having gbp to promote his fights will help the business then that's what he should do. he doesn't need to like oscar for that.

U seem to think u know what the guy is thinking. I dunno what he's thinking. I'm not assuming is the point. He clearly stated that he was taking time to evaluate his next step and on which direction he would go. It seems to me that's what's going on here. I honestly dont know. He could be ducking too. No strings attached, Main events could promote this fight on HBO instead of Showtime struggling to deal with having to pay for him vs Mohameddi or getting stripped of his belt.

Are you ******ed? This proves nothing about the situation at GB. They just scheduled a fight with Kell Brook, clearly disproving your theory because he isn't signed to Golden Boy. You ****ing dumbass.

The only thing this could possibly mean is either Hopkins's contract with GB is up in the air and he is having disputes (he has mentioned that he may want to divest from the company now that RS has left) OR GB just isn't interested in working with Duva and is just blowing smoke up his/her ass.

To take a statement made to one promoter regarding one fighter and use to to claim that GB is in disarray is beyond ******.

People asking why TR and GBP can't do any shows yet... well they can't even make fights with Duva because they don't know who's with who and if they can even work outside Haymon/GBP yet.
