Brandon Rios will look to get himself back on track as he takes on hard hitting Argentinean Diego Chaves August 2nd at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas, NV after having a disappointing 2013 that saw him lose to both Mike Alvarado and Manny Pacquiao. Rios understands the importance of this upcoming fight and knows his back is against the wall.

“I’m going into this fight like it’s my last fight. I did lose two in a row. I have no shame in it. I lost to Alvarado which was a great fight, both fights that we did. And I lost to Pacquiao which everyone has been losing to Pacquiao. He’s actually been knocking out some of the greats so I have no shame in that. But this fight is a do or die for me. That’s why I’m doing it right and eating right and doing everything right like I’m supposed to. This is a do or die for me and I want to make it a do for me, not a die. I used to be such a fan of bam bam, he seems really focused now, I hope he makes it a night to remember, hunger is underrated when it comes to boxing, the right mindset can easily be the difference between winning and losing, Rios is a dangeous fighter when he's hungry and with his back against the ropes.

Chaves showed a great chin against Thurman before getting hurt by that body shot. Rios doesn't have the power or skills Thurman does so I really don't see how he'll be able to get the victory. If Chaves was able to give Thurman hell then I'm pretty sure he'll be able to stop Rios and it will not be pretty to watch.

And this fight wouldn't have any effect on Thurman's career, seeing as how he won his next two fights.

I hope Rios gets the win, I wanna see more of him and I wanna see an improvement of his defence and agility. I thought he did pretty well against Pacman, he didn't get beat up as much as I thought he would.

I think Pac kinda carried him in that fight. If Pac had went 100% in on Rios, he probably could have got the fight stopped. After the Marquez KO, Pac just decided to box Rios and score points when he could.
