You think the MGM would burn mayweather for Canelo and let's be honest MGM gave golden boy the date with a Floyd Mayweather fight in mind use your head. I didn't even touch on ppv's I was talking about the financial view pint of the MGM. If that's the case. Why doesn't he out sell Floyd now. Canelo would get the date if he wants if for a number of reasons.
One being the fact that at that point Mayweather would only have 2 fights left. Canelo will be a PPV draw for the next decade. Showtime has no incentive to cave to Mayweather. HBO has publicly stated they will not work with Haymon so where is money going to go?
Also they would not have to pay Mayweathers huge guarantee which they have lost money on 2 out of 3 times (ironically the only time they haven't is when he fought Canelo). People need to use their heads. Cotto/Canelo is the the biggest fight to be made right now, bigger than any Khan, Garcia or other Haymon fighter in line for Jr.
Mexican fight fans run this sport, they fill up the arenas and buy PPV's like no other fan base. They had a deal with Cotto for this year but Miguel made the smart business decision and decided to fight a 40 year old Martinez coming off a year layoff and two knee surgeries rather than a young lion like Canelo. If Cotto still wants the payday Floyd will have to move the date. Oscar has the dates locked up. ODL has been given a directive from his guy. Floyd has made it known he is not a Golden Boy fighter so let him go promote his own show elsewhere. Good luck with that Jr.
