You're right. It isn't. It's about Hauser's information and I have a couple of problems with how it was presented. (In an overall good piece, so relax)

It's about delivering to the boxing fans an exposition on Haymon's business practices. It sheds light on these practices and how he operates. It's fairly clear what he's up to, and it's also clear imo that the brighter the light shone upon him the less desirable he becomes to those interested in operating transparently. That's why he's at pains to avoid exposure.
Yes, but it sheds parts in areas where he has no proof or source that says he's doing some things. The main problem is he suggests Haymon is moving money without any concrete examples or, more importantly, from sources.

For example, if Waddell & Reed are a rumoured potential investor, I'm sure those high up would be more than interested in what kind of character they'd be involving themselves with and due diligence will lead them to articles such as this. The net is closing on Haymon, lawsuits are coming in.
And Hauser mentions this with once a company goes public, the investor is looked into more. That's fair. Whether those lawsuits have any affect or shed any light still remains to be seen. I hope English succeeds with it, but I'm doubtful.

You can not like Haymon (I don't care for him either). I just think it's wrong, especially with how long Hauser has been around, to carelessly toss that **** in there. His work is filled with bias and it co

Beyond that, while Haymon's stable has grown, boxing doesn't need those guys, there are enough HBO stars and international fighters coming through that no one will bother with the likes of old Stevenson, old Dawson and old Mayweather particularly if he continues to avoid the best opposition with PPV numbers falling. Showtime will soon tire of getting fleeced for mismatches.
It took HBO practically 7 years of getting tired of Haymon's mismatches before kicking him off the network. I don't think your point about Showtime getting tired soon is accurate at all.

The European knockout artists coming through are far more exciting and they're coming in numbers with no links to Haymon. Your Kovalevs, Lomachenkos, Golovkins, that's the future not Showtime Shawn.
I like all those fighters, but why can't we have both? Why can't I enjoy the stable Haymon has and enjoy the fighters on HBO? I enjoy a lot of fighters Haymon has without liking Haymon. Boxing is so concentrated with having one or the other. You have to like brawlers or you have to like skill fighters. I like both.

Also to your other point about boxing doesn't need them. If NBC is providing a nice chunk of change to host his cards, then why can't boxing fans look forward to that?

Obviously the problem is that Haymon would exploit those cards and make just godawful mismatches like the 8/9 card on Showtime. Hopefully, NBC Sports learned from the Top Rank-Versus fiasco, but Haymon always wins so that's doubtful.'

    edit:

Yeah, but when you say that stuff you're supposed to accurately cite it with examples or sources. Hauser did that in some parts, not in others.

Be aware I'm no Arum fan, but to equate him with Haymon is left field, he's a promoter for a start and he's not trying to sign everyone he can to take over boxing. He also puts his fighters in tough fights, it's rare they're knocking over cans for an extended period.
Marquez couldn't get the Pac rematch until his GBP contract expired. And isn't the objective of a boxing company to sign as many fighters as you can? You're criticizing Haymon for running a business which is ridiculous.

Fact of the matter is you had King, you had Arum, you had GBP, and the new power is Al Haymon. He is here to stay and will be here until somebody new emerges on the scene.

LOL. I hold my hands up! That's why you should never grab something off of Google image search without reading it thoroughly first.

        • Cool. Let's see how far opponents like Salka, Gavin Rees, Santana and whoever else he plans to match his fighters with for an easy win, takes them

By the way, see http://janbtucker.com/blog/2014/06/0...raint-of-trade for even more info on this situation. Most knew that there was more to the story than Schaeffer not wanting to work with Arum. Thanks to Mr. Hauser we now have a little more insight into the matter. Oh, so Haymon and Schaeffer were trying to buy out Oscar? Hm. Makes sense now. Anyone calling this trash journalism should try reading the bias nut-huggery they publish on floyd-hype.com, then you will realize that this article is a breathe of fresh air.

            • Like I said before Al has a plan to turn boxing into a WWF model type of ENTERTAINMENT. And pimp his stable of fighters but his head's gotten so big that he calls himself the messiah! but we all now what happens when you offend The ALMIGHTY! This is just the smoke to draw the snakes out of their burrow. Don't underestimate the government. Where there's money uncle Sam is just around the corner waiting to collect! His partners will turn away before he can screw them over like his done in the past. About time someone has the balls to put this fools on blast. Good piece BS that's what real journalism is about.

Psh. I hope you're not banking on Haymon matching his fighters against the Provodnikovs and Gamboas of the boxing world like Arum does.

It's either gonna be strictly in-house fights, or out-of house showcase fights like Rod Salka for Haymon fighters.

Why would anyone support that? None of those other promoters have made a mockery of the sport by trying to turn boxing into WWE.

Prepare to see more situations like Kovalev-Stevenson.

In the future, to fight a Haymon fighter... One must sign a contract that states something like this: you are willing to fork over $5 million up fromt, just to get in the ring with our fighter. You have to wear 30oz gloves. You have to walk up to the ring blindfolded. And we get to pick the judges.

Boxing is gonna be awesome now.. We'll get all the fights we've been wanting!

Dunn tries to hide it better now, but he used to call people racist all the time, in fact he claimed people who said Broner was trying to be like Floyd were really racist.

In 2011, years into the "Cold War"?

No it isn't. There's no point in signing too many fighters if you can't put them on but Haymon isn't a promoter anyway, he's a manager masquerading as a promoter - which is the subject of the Duva lawsuit.

Haymon is on borrowed time already, his reputation is edging towards that of Don King. He is offside with the major boxing network, he's double-crossed the biggest boxing promoterand the other one hates him, boxing writers and fans consistently speak of him negatively, he's associated with mismatches and big fights not happening, he's the subject of multiple lawsuits, and bar a few fighters his "stable" is over the hill. No one wants this guy in boxing.

He stepped too far over the line, and it's coming back on him.
