Yup. I agree. Two men usually trying to beat each other up, but still have a lot of respect for each other. Like a fair one in the back alley for bragging rights without cowardly weapons.
My East Coast knows about a "fair one."Comment

I think the reason for all the arguing on here is we have different views of what boxing it...to be it is not just 2 men throwing punches..anyone can throw a punch..boxing is hitting and not getting hit, using angles and thinking. Boxing is a science not just someone throwing punching that is simply fighting(in my opinion)Comment

It replicates life in so many ways, all sports do. But boxing is harsh, life is harsh. Thus it replicates life more than other/most sports (as in lessons learned/mistakes made, its all related).
Art in motion (imo) if you're watching a master technician (i guess that open to personal opinion based on fans style preferences) art and science are not that dissimilar in many senses, hence 'sweet science'....
Clashes of completely opposing styles, it could be broken down to the level of clashes of culture etc if you wanted to go down that rabbit hole...
Then the obvious..... Who doesn't like watching two in shape, trained to fight guys have a crack at each other, we've loved combat since our dawn, literally, on a feral level anyone has it in them to appreciate a good fight, under rules, sanctioned, ref etc
I could get philosophical with it but i'll sound a crack-pot haha, so the Jab will conclude....

Correct me if I'm wrong...but even "fighting" you're trying to hit and not be hit, right?I think the reason for all the arguing on here is we have different views of what boxing it...to be it is not just 2 men throwing punches..anyone can throw a punch..boxing is hitting and not getting hit, using angles and thinking. Imo the only thing that seperates boxing from "fighting" is the mentality that it is a sport going into the fight:
- you get paid to do what you do
- there are rules you follow
- you usually don't channel anything personal towards your opponent, it's just another opponent you need to beat.
How you want to get over that obstacle is your choice...
If you want to get "cute" with it like a Mayweather or etc, or if you want to end the fight quick like a One Time Thurman.
As long as the demeanor of professionalism remains the same the way you get from point a to point b is still "boxing."Comment

Boxing is two men fighting in a ring with gloves on. Some fight toe to toe others move around and try to hit without getting hit. Some fans like one style others like the other one. It's all boxing at the end of the day.Comment

Skill, and that isn't just the most skilled in the sport. That goes for everyone. Guys like Maidana would destroy regular dudes on the street.Comment
