WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) is not impressed with the record of Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs). They are set to collide this Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Lara points to Canelo's record being built on victories over smaller and older fighters like Jose Miguel Cotto, Carlos Baldomir and Matthew Hatton. He thinks Canelo has a bad attitude and walks around with a big chip on his shoulder.

This guy is so jealous of someone's star power. Someone needs to wake this guy up. You can beat a hundred Canelos and still not be able to draw flies. You run and bore people to death.

That's why I laud Canelo for taking this fight. It's a fight he needs to get over with, win or lose, then move on and never look back. Look at the Prescott/Khan story. Or the Rigo/Donaire.

You don't rely on someone else's star power to be a star. You rely on yourself. You're not a star because you're boring to watch.
