Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez: We'll See Who Takes More Left Hands!

Former champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (43-1-1, 31KOs) is brushing off the big talk from WBA 'regular' junior middleweight beltholder Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs), who faces the Mexican superstar on Saturday night as the main event of a Showtime Pay-Per-View from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lara has promised to "take Canelo to the Cuban school of boxing" when they step in the ring. Canelo believes he will eventually figure Lara out and put him away to get the victory.

The fact is, Canelo is the best overall FIGHTER (yes, over Paul Will) Lara has ever faced. And all that **** that worked on lesser foes will not work on Canelo. So, unless Lara has some other gear that he never had to use and that we have never seen in any of his boxing matches, he's ****ing toast. Period. Last thing I'm saying until after the fight! ONE WEEK!

Those right hands will open Lara up to all kinds of combinations that will break him down.

Lara is a terrific fighter but I think he relies on his left hand too much, which is a great weapon don't get me wrong, and he's going to have to vary his attack in this fight. If you watch Lara often, you'll see his offense consists primarily of a jab followed by the left hand and will seldom attack the body or shoot the right hook. And very little uppercuts to boot. His right hook is actually very good and accurate and it's a punch I think he'll really need in this fight along with a right hook to the body.
