Rising welterweight prospect Jeff Horn was dominant in a 12-round shutout over Brazil's Fernando Ferreira da Silva. Scores were 120-107 across the board in favor of Horn, a member of the 2012 Australia Olympic boxing squad and who has impressed through eight pro fights.
Horn was the on the verge of ending the night early on several occasions, but a busted knuckle late in the fight forced the 26-year old to go the full 12 rounds. A bit of window dressing came in the 12th and final round, as da Silva was dropped for the bout's lone knockdown and by that point content to just survive.
The win runs Horn's record to 8-0-1 (6KOs) as his handlers continue to seek out far more experienced foes to keep things interesting.
da Silva falls to 34-2-1, ending a six-fight win streak versus modest competition. The bout marked the first outside of Brazil for the 36-year old visitor. [Click Here To Read More]
