Isn't it funny that Herrera was meant to be Garcias stay busy 'easy' fight while he figured out the next big one....then suddenly he all but loses it, and now he's stepping further down and literally fighting an unheard of nobody.

I don't mind champions taking stay busy, easy fights as long as it's part of a plan to keep them in action, keep them busy, work on new stuff without ruining their bigger fights in proper world title fights.

The older greats, like Duran etc. would take lots of small stay busy fights in between his big title fights, but his big title fights were still on a normal schedule of 3 or so a year, and these types of fights against nobodies would come in between those to keep him busy, in shape and working on new techniques etc.

As long as he doesn't become one of these guys taking fights like this in place of big fights if he's only going to be one of these standard modern champions that only fight once or twice a year.

I can't stand this new boxing mentality of securing a title only to fight once a year for a big check. If you've got a belt and are only putting it on the line once or twice a year, you hardly deserve it.
