Canelo vs cotto in may and floyd vs pac in september or put both fighters on the same ppv. It worked before it will work again.

But it all comes down to who the opponent will be for both fighters that decide who should get those dates imo.

I just posted a poll on this yesterday. I knew I was onto something, mexican fans would rather see canelo on those dates than floyd. It would help build his career. Just like fighting in June helped cottos and titos career. It's not rocket scientist

Yeah i agree a mexican should be fighting on those days, but i dont think canelo vs angulo would of done bigger numbers on may 3 rather then in march...it all comes down to the opponents, which should determine who should get those fights... say canelo vs cotto or mayweather vs garcia on may 2nd next year canelo vs cotto should definately get the date..

But floyd has a huge surprise for "us" so he says, theres only 2 options for him to claim that date and its cotto for a belt in a 6th weight class or pacquiao which would do huge numbers..

This is very intriguing. Ever since June 7th when cotto demolished martinez, there's been talk of cotto alvarez in may. I found that mind boggling because may is usually Floyd's date to fight every year. I feel Floyd is feeling the pressure from a potential cotto alvarez fight in may and it's planning something big. In a few interview he's had, he announced the maidana 2 fight going down in September, but he's also said "stay tuned for a huge surprise for may return" Is Floyd vs pac finally going down?

Shaefer confirmed in May that Golden Boy has dibs on Cinco de Mayo and Independance day dates with the MGM for 2015 already locked up. Doubt that changed just because Richard Shaefer moved on. If Canelo/Cotto is made then Showtime will find another date for Floyd, maybe July 4th 2015 for the guy that always complains american boxing fans don't like him.
