Heh Damn, i would be lying if i didn't think this fight wasn't dangerous for Rios, but some of y'all are really overating Chaves. He did good against Thurman, another overrated fighter imo, for a short time then Keith took over and Chaves was just throwing left hook haymakers with out any real technique. He is faster than Rios, does that mean he punches harde? Who has he fought besides Thurman? I'll take Rios in 11.

I've never seen him besides the Thurman fight, and he did well there. Rios isn't exactly a world beater, and he has to be close to over that brawling edge, if he isn't already. Chaves might wreck him.

Mike Alvarado, and Richar Abril outboxed Brandon Rios

Let that sink in for a minute.

Rios is not a good boxer. He's a watered down version of provodnikov and that's saying a lot

I'm with the TS, in that I think this is a horrible fight for Rios. But a great fight for us as fans. It cant suck, it just cant.

The problem as I see it for for Rios is that he just dosent have enough movement. A big part, from what I have seen recently, is that his legs may be going. He balloons between fights and dosent have the mental clarity to know how to box effectively. The dude just want to throw down and thats taken a toll on him.

If you take the Thruman fight as an example, Chaves was touching Thruman pretty consistently and in combination until Thurman decided to move. Which he did pretty well.

Chaves is pretty heavy handed and lets his shots go. Rios is going to be standing in front of him all night so I see him getting caught too many times. I doubt he goes down for the 10, but the ref or the corner is probably going to step in.

I'm not sold on how solid Chavez chin is but I do definitely believe Thurman is a much bigger hitter and to be honest I thought Chavez looked like he was dealing fine with what Thurman was bringing forth to him.

If Chavez can get off his big shots and be able to tie Rios up when need be I can definitely see him winning this with ease and maybe just maybe he can knock Rios out.

                i think this is a 50/50 fight.

and i'm not totally convinced by chaves' power. his last stoppage win was very early and he didn't really hurt the guy and i don't remember him hurting thurman at all either. so i question if all of his stoppage wins were too early or controversial.

i've seen rios go through a lot of adversity with hard punchers and he can crack too.
