Hopkins is so classy that he refused to do media interviews when he attended the boxing hall of fame weekend to pay respects to the inductees calzaghe, Tito And Oscar who he fought . He didn't want the attention taken away from the inductees.

The part that really got me was when he said Kov was slower than B-Hop's recent opposition, and I simply disagree. Kov puts his punches together very well, which can't be said for Murat/Cloud/Shumenov. If those guys were able to land on B-Hop, why can't Kovalev? How many agree that Kovalev is too slow to land on B-Hop?To those who think Kovalev's power and/or body shots will be a factor in this fight: Kovalev isn't fast enough to land a meaningful punch on Hopkins. After the Kovalev-Sillakh fight, I also thought Kovalev could beat Hopkins, but then I realized that Sillakh lacks what Ali called the "radar", AKA the instinctive ability to dodge punches.
Remember, Hopkins was the one to approach Tarver and Pavlik, saying things like "Nobody can knock me out!" (so those guys would go for the KO, taking the win for granted). Now he has suckered Kovalev into yet another "slugger vs boxer" impossible mission. Hopkins does his homework, watching videos of these powerpunchers, and then calls them out after he has figured them out. That's the way he works. He's ten times smarter than the other guys in the division.
Kovalev may be a bit smarter than Tarver, Pavlik and Trinidad, but that isn't going to be useful against Hopkins, because it takes speed to beat BHop, and Kovalev is incredibly slow. And don't be fooled by BHop's lackluster performances in his latest fights: those guys had better handspeed than Kovalev.
Kovalev will be in the Twilight Zone when he steps into the ring with master BHop. Kovalev fights in what Freddie Roach calls the "Russian" style. BHop has the Philadelphia style. I mean seriously, folks. I expect the scores to be similar to the Pavlik fight: a wipeout.Comment

Hopkins' kryptonite is volume/speed.
Jones, Jr.-speed.
Taylor-Speed.
Calzaghe-volume/speed.
Dawson- speed.
Kovalev will be banking on his power. I cannot emphasize that enough.
-Gone furthest is 8 rounds.
-7 of last 10 fights have ended in 3 or less.
Kovalev will drown in deep waters against a legend. Hopkins is going to do it again.
Some of you here were definitely not around when Pavlik or Tito went up against him.Comment

Kovalev seems off balance when he gets hit. He gets moved by a caparello body shot just before the KD and vs Agnew tooComment

Not incredibly or horribly slow but yes he is pretty slow. He cuts the ring well but he did it against maximum B level fighter for this time and that isn't speed that's more like because he schmooze good in the ring, but IMO Hopkins does it better.
And his handspeed is mediocre not that good. Not very slow but B-Hop's is better.Comment

Kovlaev will not be banking on his power. That's not what he does.
Why do some people see a guy getting KOs and think all he has is power? You have clearly never saw him fight
Kovalev actually is a volume puncher. Difference is there's power in both fists. He's not slow. His footwork is fantastic. His timing and accuracy is fantastic.

Kovalev does have volume. Some of his recent KDs/KOs are from combinations (i.e. White, Cleverly, Agnew). It won't be that easy against B-Hop, but he does have certain attributes that make this a winnable fight. He needs to land hard and early. Nobody has a bigger bag of tricks than B-Hop, and he's gonna need it to get this W.Comment
