  • Comments Thread For: Mike Tyson Backs Mendez For Revenge on Barthelemy

Miami, FL - With the most highly anticipated rematch in years taking place next week, legendary former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson gave his thoughts on the Thursday, July 10 International Boxing Federation (IBF) Super Featherweight showdown between his fighter, champion ARGENIS “La Tormenta” MENDEZ, 20-2-1 (11KO’s) and top rated challenger RANCES “Kid Blast” BARTHELEMY, 19-0-0 (12KO’s).

Presented by Iron Mike Productions, the Mendez-Barthelemy rematch headlines “JUDGMENT DAY” from the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida and LIVE on FOX Sports 1.

The first bout which took place on January 3, 2014 in Minneapolis, Minnesota was initially and wrongly ruled a second round stoppage for Barthelemy. However, the decision was reversed and ruled a “No Decision” by the Minnesota State Boxing Commission as a video replay clearly showed Mendez being hit after the bell sounded to end the second round.

Yeah? Maybe Iron Mike Productions should back Mendez by properly promoting this fucking card! It's less than ten days away and the "promotion" has been virtually non-existent. Then people will continue to claim Cubans don't back their fighters. SMH

There you go son. Let it all out. Matter of fact, we'll let his ass know when we see him over there. And by "we" I mean you. I dont mess with Iron Mike.

lol I'm not that asshole Tyson chased through a NYC hotel lobby, bro.

Regardless, from what I'm seeing, Iron Mike Productions is mishandling this card. That's putting it kindly.

The first fight gave no indication that Mendez has any chance of winning. I hope he does as I hate absolutely hate Rances Barthelemy and his ****** face.

Every time Barthelemy touched Mendez, he was hurt. I cant possibly see a different outcome. One man's chin is a mismatch with the other guy's fists. I'd be almost shocked if Mendez wins. But nothing shocks me. The only thing that would shock me is if Mendez won AND I woke up the next day with my face crazy glued to the carpet. In other words, only being glued to the carpet could shock me.......and I don't drink.

I guess you are one of those who wants rules but then want to change them in the middle of the game, right?

I know that Mendez was on his way out but rules are rules regardless. Otherwise we would a rule that says if it looks like the other fighter was going to win...then it's fine to break those rules.

lol True. I'll be at the rematch, along with a few other guys from Boxingscene. Let's hope this time there's no controversy.
