Because Oscar De La Hoya, after being an absent owner and non-participant in the day-to-day runnings of Golden Boy Promotion, after another stint in rehab, finally came back into the fold, immediately dictating things in a direction that Schaefer and Binkov, the #1 and #2 day-to-day operators for the business for the past decade, thought was foolish and in a manner, business wise, that really didn't make much sense.

The Golden Boy was definitely the "money man" for the company, helping out from a PR standpoint when able, but Schaefer and Binkov were the guys that kept the business running, building the shop into arguably the best promotional company on the planet.

It's a "no confidence" move by, in essence, the executive structure that Schaefer put into place, because Oscar has never been interested enough, or in a right enough state, to even try and sit through the day-to-day work.

              Good post!!!

ODLH needs to get into the swing of things quickly. Because that can't be a good sign to have your top guys vacate, post announcement that you'll be at the helm going forward.

Because Oscar DE LA hoya is delusional about wanting to work together, he has zero sense of business and capitalism, honestly he should just give his company to bob arum since he's so insisting on wanting to work together, Oscar is a moron and behind close doors arum and top rank are laughing their ass off

There's a reason arum hated Schaefer and it's because Schaefer was winning the chess match and was squeezing them out.

I'l say it again, it's not possible for golden boy and top rank to work together, someone is going to lose sponsors and ruin business relationships and it won't be Bob arum.

Oscar is going to be played like a fiddle and any business competent person(i. e. Binkow) is getting away from him

I wonder why Binkow is only being hired as a "Consultant" considering he was just COO of GBP.

Clearly Binkow has no faith in Mayweather Promotions to last as a real company, just trying to get some of that consulting fees.

You could argue Schaefer was wrong for not signing fighters to long term contracts. But he was promoting fights for Haymon fighters. You have to assume GBP was getting paid a fee for that. That was probably GB biggest revenue maker next to Canelo fights. Now they don't have that revenue stream anymore. You need that cash flow to make payroll and other expenses that companies have. I can't see how Oscar gets his company up and running again without having to put more of his own money back in to it.

... because Arum is never going to put Pacquiao into a fight where he doesn't control options on both fighters. Same reason why Alvarez vs. Pacquiao is never going to happen; 'Canelo' has a sharp enough team around him that they're not going to let Arum lock in six future options on his for the fight.

Maidana fought dirty and disrespected Floyd, before and after the fight ... but the fight ended up being pretty compelling (had it 8-4 Mayweather myself, but whatever), and there was enough "controversy"/drama to have the Mexican and Mexican American fight fan 1)throwing their support behind the Argentine and 2)interested in paying to see the fight again.
