  • Comments Thread For: Golovkin's Trainer Still Hopes Peter Quillin Bout Happens

Abel Sanchez, trainer of IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (29-0, 26KOs), still hopes that a unification can happen with WBO middleweight beltholder Peter Quillin (31-0, 22KOs).

Golovkin will defend his titles on July 26th against Daniel Geale at New York's Madison Square Garden. Quillin is expected back before the end of the year. He dominated challenger Lukas Konecny over twelve rounds in April.

Last year, making Golovkin-Quillin was difficult due to the network rivalries and the bickering between promoters, but now Golden Boy Promotions is restructuring and willing to work with everyone.

Quackllin won't face no one of any note unless the money is astronomical, the guy has zero belief in himself.this be his cash out fight if it ever happens, which I very much doubt it will because he on a resume is like his belt, meaningless.Quackllin's own resume is even worse

Pirog should he return would be a lot better opponent to seek out instead of Quackllin.

I'm sick of these clowns blaming Haymon for everything. It's GGGs teams job to get HBO on board with Quillin if that's who they want to fight. I don't believe that HBO won't do business with Haymon. Maybe when it comes to the big names like Floyd, Danny Garcia, and Mares. But I'm sure a deal can be worked out with the B level fighters like Quillin. They are using Haymon as an excuse to have GGG fight Jon Smith.

ggg should just forget about quillin. quillin won't ever find the courage to fight him. so ggg should just focus on geale and maybe get a shot at cotto for the wbc and ring titles and then move up to super middleweight.

What happened to fighter being "HBO approved". That's why GGG avoided Lara right? How is Quillin HBO approved, but Lara wasn't? They have the same drawing power.

This whole, the world is scared of GGG is getting dry.

Lara is obv tricky and a smaller man so holds less weight with a win. Whereas Quillin is a unification fight and it would arguably force the other champions to face him.
