Sergio was willing to make 154 when he was fresh.

I also think P.Will wouldve have him a challenge. Not Margarito tho. And I'm only mentioning him cause people always put those two together.
He fought Oscar. Been there, done that. Just because Sergio was willing to come down doesn't make him the smaller man. What do you think Maravilla would've re-hydrated to?

It's not the only time Mayweather briefly "retired." He didn't have to "retire" to avoid Oscar. These guys making mega-bucks at a young age toy with the idea of early retirement all the time, especially in a difficult and dangerous sport like boxing. Probably the real reason why Floyd keeps coming back is because he spends loot just as fast as he makes it, which is sick.

Yeah it's not like, two fights before Hatton, Floyd hadn't said he was going to fight twice more than go on hiatus. Wait, he did.

Im guessing Sergio wouldve rehydrated to his usual weight which if I'm not mistaken is the same as Canelo's.

When else did Floyd retire? I'm unaware of the other time(s)? Oscar wasn't thet only guy out there to avoid either.

I dont even know how this turned into a Mayweather thread. Just cause Mr Captn Save A Hoe (IMDAZED) decided to come to his aid after I mentioned Floyd's name along someone else.

Save a hoe? I didn't come to save you. Didn't come to save anyone. Message boards are about debating; no need to be hurt.

You see, man, I don't even remember details like that, but I don't doubt them. These are important things to consider when you want to criticize Mayweather for "ducking" someone.

Seriously, the kind of money Floyd makes is enough to make you forget about fighting ever again. Who can blame someone for kicking back from a lifetime of exhausting training, not to mention avoiding brain and body damage? Like anyone would give a fuck what a bunch of dudes on Boxingscene have to say about it.

Well he said it on HBO so it was kinda hard to miss.

In my opinion, it's rare a fighter "ducks" another, especially at that level. It's just a childish way to look at things and means you really don't have the mind power to think any deeper. It's almost always related to business, timing, alliances, etc.

He "retired" again after fighting Hatton, then he came back to fight Marquez. You might be right about Mayweather's motivations for retiring after DLH, I'm not in the mans head, but it could just as easily be that Floyd simply wanted to knock off early. Tens of millions of dollars in earnings tend to do that to a fighter.

I agree. I think it's fairly rare that a fighter actually ducks another fighter, especially if there's serious money involved. All other possibilities must be exhausted before making that accusation. In Mayweather's case, I can easily understand why he acts the way he does. On another note, Floyd's resume looks pretty good to me. I don't see what else he needs to prove. He's an ATG.

For sure. Definitely an ATG and probably the best fighter of his era although I'm not ready to crown him yet. The idea that he ducked a rematch with Oscar is a little silly. Especially when he's shown (in the past and in the present) that he has no qualms granting an immediate rematch after a tough fight. Everyone's resume is missing a couple names (Manny's is missing Floyd's too). But ultimately you're judged by who you did fight, when you fought them, and what the outcome was. Cheers.

I can't wait for this fight next weekend Lara is doing the right thing trying to promote this fight by talking s##t. Canelo needs to hype up this fight as well one week left and their not a lot a buzz surrounding this ppv.
