Juarez gained his new title by defeating Rene Alvarado of Nicaragua on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014 in Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas in front of thousands of military personnel and adoring fans. He is eyeing at a shot at Jhonny Gonzalez who holds the WBC title.

Rocky Juarez is past his prime. Jorge Arce and Cristian Mijares are past their primes and too small, but they all want a shot at Jhonny Gonzalez because he's a shopworn fighter and arguably the weakest champion at 126 despite his knockout win over Mares.

These fights probably make sense in Mexico business wise, but as a boxing fan I'm not really excited for any of them. Jhonny already fought this Atwell guy that nobody had ever heard of, I hope he faces a decent opponent next.
