Comments Thread For: De La Hoya Sees Bigger PPV Numbers For Canelo-Lara

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya expects better numbers for Saul "Canelo" Alvarez's second pay-per-view fight as an A-side headliner. Back in March, Canelo returned after his decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr., and stopped Alfredo Angulo. The Showtime Pay-Per-View generated 350,000 buys, which Golden Boy and Showtime saw as a very successful number.

On July 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Canelo will headline another Showtime Pay-Per-View, against WBA 'regular' champion Erislandy Lara.

I haven't seen a lot of advertising for this fight or much buzz among mainstream media. That's usually not a good sign.

It's a great matchup though and I hope it does well.

I bet you or anyone anything that this fight will sell more than the Angulo fight.

Hope so but not much promotion for this fight away from Showtime to be honest

500k would be excellent but I think it will do Martinez vs Cotto Numbers which is actually not bad for Canelo.

Boxing PPV Numbers and Ratings for Networks are all down even for Pacquiao and Mayweather so we shall see how this does but I hope it does excellent

Well I won't be buying it, but that's only because my brother works at a movie theater that happens to be showing the fight, and he can get me in for free.
