Exactly....great fighter but no brains. When I met him, I felt like Einstein hanging around him for a little while. Pissing that kind of money away takes a very special kind of ******.

Tyson pissed away MUCH more............combined they could have ended a chunk of world hunger............but when you're in your early twenties to mid thirties, you aren't thinking the faucet is ever going to shut off............or that the people that are supposed to help you manage your money are stealing from you and making bad choices because they know they can get away with it given the 'poor money management' fighters are known for.
So........let's have a legit National Commission with pensions, etc. Any reason that shouldn't happen? FROCK the sanctioning bodies. Nobody needs them to tell us who the real champions are. Lets go from 17 weight classes to 9-10, take power away from promoters, get rid of sanctioning bodies and create the Lineal Titles for the classes based on what RING has now........with some stiffer requirements to keep their titles and equally stiff requirements to get a shot at that title.......
As for Evander and Mike:
Neither were paid for the financial management acumen.........boxers aren't typically ACT/SAT stars that choose the sport of academics.....
But they will also have name recognition, will always be able to get appearance fees..........and Evander has a tribe of children from a tribe of women that TOOK HALF of his career earnings, possibly more collectively........
WHO CARES?? I promise both are living just fine. It's not as though Evander is pan-handling in downtown Atlanta........Comment

No offense dude, but that kind of bad math is one reason fighters go broke. The US sends about 5 billion dollars ( 5 thousand millions) to sub Saharan Africa a year, and can't even come close to ending hunger even there, much less the world.
Evander made 230 million and thought it was such a huge amount of money it could never be spent. Take 5-7% sanctioning fee's 45% to Promoter/Manager/trainer fees, and 45% for taxes, and your down to 53 million, figure in divorces, lawsuits and child support and he likely only really saw maybe 30 of that.
Now 30 million is a lot of money, but if he gave it all away to the planets poor (at least one billion of the three billion current residents) it would equal 3 cents a piece.Last edited by Blueduck; 06-29-2014, 08:09 PM.Comment

My son who is in primary school got into a fight a couple of months ago. An older boy tried to bully him and pushed him hard, not knowing my son has been taking up karate for a few years already. So they got into a fight and after realizing he can't win, that bastard bit my son in the arm! Had to bring my son to the A&E just to make sure that no infection takes place. I didn't condone my son's behaviour of course; but anyway it kinda reminded me of Tyson. For some people when they can't beat another person fair & square, I think they go to survival mode and the "animal instinct" kicks in. Luckily, Holyfield has got class and didn't stoop down to his level e.g. kicked in the groin, etc.Comment
