Comments Thread For: Photos: Crawford With Explosive Stoppage of Gamboa

Terence Crawford (24-1, 17KOs) stopped Yuriorkis Gamboa (23-1, 16KOs) in the ninth round in Omaha, Nebraska, on Saturday night to retain his WBO lightweight title. Crawford wobbled Gamboa with a left and knocked him down with another left earlier in the ninth, then connected with a right to the chin, prompting referee Gino Rodriguez to call the fight over 2 minutes 53 seconds into the round. It was the fourth time Gamboa went down in the contest. Photos by Chris Farina.

terence did a really good job of catching gamboa in the middle of his flurries with short precise punches.

he's only 26 so it's scary to think that he can still improve and become even better.

Crawford really impressed me. He showed skill, poise, and the calmness of a predator.

I mean I was rattled by the dirty shots, punching on the breaks, and the complaints by Gamboa. But this dude Crawford was cool as ice and picked Gamboa apart with precise shots in between those fast Gamboa flurries.

Gamboa did show heart..but the whining killed it.

I guess Boxingscene decided to give Crawford an L.

TC's poise and composure impressed the hell outta me. He was smiling throughout the beginning of the fight, and I took that for false bravado, but man, he came through like a star.

Nothing but respect for him, even though he beat up a FW.

Salido gave Gamboa a good fight, but even at feather that is a quality fighter and a good win. Crawford is a big lightweight, but he showed more than size.

Terence Crawford looked great last night after he started timing Gamboa! Very nice performance!

Great fight from both men. Crawford is awesome, made this American very proud. Gamboa had no rust he was strong and sharp with guts but always gets sloppy after 5 rounds, I've noticed that for years. Gamboa , por favor deja a 50 cent. Ese huey no te paga lo que merezes primo.
