Then you should love John Molina even more. Fought even more bravely against Matthysse, a guy with 5-10X as much power.

Just makes so much sense for his career.
It was frightening to see Crawford absorb so many of Gamboa's shots with ease. It's hard to say where Gamboa should go from here.

Dropping a weight class to 130 would suit him though. I'd love to see him with a new trainer although Gamboa seems like his way of fighting is instilled in him and would be hard to correct.

That's a pleasing element, despite all of those things he still showed flashes of greatness. He also showed he has the dog in him when needed, when it gets tough in there, he fights back.

A smarter Gamboa would be a better Gamboa, but he still wants to fight in a pleasing manner, even if it costs him.

If he must stay at 135 he needs to box and rely in his experience and IQ. He can start by getting a new trainer. Even Manny Pacquiao has toned it down and boxes smart now.

He won't be as exciting but he will win and last longer. At age 33 and taking on bigger, younger fighters he has no business being reckless anymore.

He probably does. Let's hope he realizes and corrects his mistakes, regardless of new trainer or not.

Call him a soldier all you want but the guy is clueless in the ring. No body movement, hands down, no jab, and continues to go toe to toe when he's clearly hurt. Being a soldier isn't going to win you a boxing fight at the highest level. He will continue to lose against elite fighters if he doesn't change his ways.

Gamboa's future is even more uncertain now than ever. He's too small for 135 and probably too big for 126. Yuri's been too inactive, and he's going on 33 years old. I feel that my worst fears regarding Gamboa have been realized. His career isn't over, but Yuri's best is probably behind him. I should feel sadder for him than I do, but there's no shame in the performance Gamboa put in tonight. With all due respect to Crawford, a prime P4P Gamboa puts his lights out.

Can Gamboa reinvent himself? That's a big question. He was getting annihilated in there and still attempted to avoid shots with his hands at his sides. It's muscle memory. Yuri could get away with that to some extent with the smaller guys, like him; but the bigger, championship-caliber dudes will make him pay. Time will tell where Gamboa's career is going. But Yuri's time just might be up....

                    Yep, agreed all around.

I'm hoping 130 is possible, he'll still be a little small but I think his talent can cover a smaller size disparity. Shoot, tonight was a winnable fight even at 135 if he could have dialed back the recklessness a little.

I'm hoping for some better decisions all around, if the right one's are made I think he can still own 130.

Crawford had a nice final hurrah at 135. The guys size/natural build definitely mattered here. I tried convincing myself that size wasn't much of a factor bf the fight but was obviously wrong. Gamboa should move down at least one class.
