lol Some Yankee scout told Cashman Abreu was an "average" prospect. I imagine he's out of a job right about now. lol

Chicago's always been good to Cubans, so I don't begrudge the acquisition. But, man, if Jose had come to the Yanks...man.... SMH

That is a critical situation Gamboa's been dealing with for his last couple of fights. He won't get away with it forever, and it might finally bite him in this fight. Yuri needs a world-class trainer. Plain and simple. That's the only way his full potential can be brought out, and it'll become more necessary as he ages. Gamboa should've at least brought back Salas.

I would of loved to seen him team up with Freddie Roach. I think Freddie would have done wonders his offensive skills.

But he became an undefeated, former unified world champion doing it his way so I guess I can't complain.

Yeah, he did it because he's a rare talent...and because he had some decent coaching. At the very highest levels, you've got to be firing on all cylinders. Mike Tyson was murdering people right up to the Douglas fight. Then he thought he didn't need anyone and look what happened. The same thing can easily happen to Gamboa.

I'm not a huge fan of Roach, but I agree someone like him is what Yuri needs. His dad just ain't cutting it. I hope Gamboa doesn't find that out the hard way.

I'm not sure who will win this one. I like more of what I see from Gamboa but his career has been stagnant lately. Crawford does have skills but I'm curious to see how he'll react to a Gamboa's offense. This will be interesting tonight.

It's a tough call. At least, I think so. But here are some thoughts: While Gamboa and Crawford share identical records (23-0), Terrance has fought ten men with losing records and one making his debut. Yuri has never fought a man with a losing record. Crawford beat Ricky Burns for his title. Burns clearly lost his second fight in a row last night. (In a split decision many thought should've been unanimous.) Does it mean something? Maybe not. But you have to wonder if maybe Terrance's win over the Scot wasn't all that. Gamboa doesn't belong at lightweight, in my opinion, but he's sure as hell better than Ricky Burns.

The Cincinnati Reds just signed Raisel Iglesias based on the recommendation of the same scouts that pegged Aroldis Chapman. I hope they're right again.
