That was a completely different fight.

As for the WBC I have to say I am shocked that they took the side of a Puerto Rican against a Mexican. Will wonders never cease?

sorry, "you gotta do more to beat the champ" isn't part of the 4 criteria in scoring a fight

you're part of the minority btw in your scores

over 77% of press row scored it for Herrera

that's why they're putting him into a back to back tune-up fight, lmao

garciatards if anything, are delusional and will stand by their guy no matter what, pics could come out with garcia wearing Oscar's old fishnets and they'd come up with reasons why it's alright, and nothing to worry about

worst fans on the site imo

How so? Algieri out landed Ruslan like Herrera did Garcia, but both Provodnikov and Garcia landed the more telling shots. Herrera worked Danny even his dad was shocked he won the fight. Ruslan landed more bigger and cleaner shots on a Chris than Garcia on Mauricio. If people think Danny won so did Ruslan... IMO

            Interesting subject for many reasons....

LET IT NOT BE FORGOTTEN THAT HERRERA ALSO BEAT RUSLAN FOR HIS FIRST LOSS.......then lost to Alvarado so does that mean since he Bradley beat Ruslan who beat Herrera.....Algieri is better than Pa?(slap)........no, no triangle theories. Just making a point about styles and how fights can be scored differently than expected on RARE occasions. It does happen a little too often. But in both fights I think the calls were right.......

Also, while I had never heard of Algieri, I liked the other three guys. But I had no rooting interest in either fight. If anything, I was hoping for the guys that didn't get the decisions. If I'm not passionate about a particular fighter, I tend to pull for underdogs......

            Having said that.....

I thought Garcia won. I just didn't think what Herrera was doing was all that effective. Yes he marked Garcia up but 1-He marks up easily, 2-Most of the marks were from the cuff of the glove with his 'veteran' pushing/slappy-type up-jabs, where they hit them with their palm and push up on contact..... It can be an effective and deceptive tactic for guys with no power because their opponents head will snap back. But they didn't really do damage other than cosmetically...

I had no rooting interest at all. Thought Garcia could have done much more for sure and seemed sluggish......but when he did land the punches were clean with more pop on them. But Garcia doesn't throw bombs with every punch. Which is a GOOD THING...... Herrera just didn't do enough to take his titles. I had it 116-112 Garcia. Not really surprised by the letdown after Matthysse

I like watching Provodnikov, want to see more of him, but he just got outhustled. I don't know what formula there is for saying how many touches equal a power shot..........but Algieri was hitting him hard enough that he didn't walk through him like he did Bradley at points and Alvarado the whole night.........he had a decent hook and very good jab.

Both favorites underperformed, Herrera did his usual thing, Algieri over-performed, got up off his ass and kept a beast off him for pretty much 8 straight rounds. I thought he just did too much more than Ruslan in every round after 2 for it to be ignored.

Ruslan was telling in his post-fight interview about that being the wrong style for him. He also lied when he said nothing hurt him, it just irritated him with the pitter-pat punches. Maybe 'hurt' is too strong a word for him? But just enough WERE stinging him. Otherwise he walks through the tough kid and KO's him in 5-6........got crazy going after the eye instead of just fighting his fight. And while he did keep the pressure on, he sparingly closed the gap completely. And when he did, he did little and Algieri was able to spin out almost every time he was cornered.

Horrible job in the corner by Roach BTW. How Lampley in particular has his nuts in his mouth that deep along with Manny's and virtually credits Roach for Cotto putting a beating on a very weak version of Martinez........he's the same guy that ignores the ABSOLUTE LACK of useful info to a guy that should have won handily, it's as if saying anything negative about Roach isn't fair play. BULL****.

Sorry but if ever there was an over-rated trainer.......anyway..... His genius will return the next time one of his Arum stablemates gets a walk over opponent....then he'll be 'sensational mastermind/trainer extraordinaire' once again......:*******:

You could debate virtually every round in Garcia-Herrera. But I just felt Garcia was winning comfortably with a game and talented challenger.....but the challenger came up short.

Herrera's version of hit and run wasn't as clearly affective because Garcia is fundamentally much better than Provodnikov and did use a pretty good defense. Those up-jabs with the cuff are deceptive and hard to block, sometimes sway fans, announcers and bum judges But they shouldn't and don't usually win fights (speaking of Cotto, he uses a similar jab at times ala vs Mosley/Mayweather).....

I would agree Garcia should have fought him again or should in the next fight or two or it will always haunt him (or at least haunt boxing threads).....that they aren't fighting again when Garcia is taking an even bigger step down in opposition fighting a REAL nobody does bother me as well..........not like Herrera wasn't available?? And I won't be expecting an Algieri-type no-name upset in this one.

It's a fight to make Garcia look good and start the push for the top of PPV cards.........something we DON'T need more of and won't sell such as the Cotto/Martinez fight wasn't PPV worthy nor is Alvarez/Lara......but more particularly those with essentially NO UNDERCARD that are fed to us via Top Rank using a formula developed with Oscar and Pac.

The problem for Arum is there isn't a 'Golden Boy' anymore and Manny isn't Manny anymore.....we'll see if Oscar continues to allow decent cards......but if you're gonna have 8-10 PPV cards a year between the two at $60-$70.....I want four top tier fights where guys are matched tough with something to lose. Typing this I don't remember ANY of the other fights on the Cotto undercard.........

If Garcia landed the harder, more powerful punches, than why were all the punches that snapped someone's head back coming from Herrera?

Herrera clearly won. Argue about the margin all you want, but he won. He landed more, his punches were obviously having more effect than Garcia's, and he completely controlled the pace and style of the fight no matter what Garcia did.

I mean, there has to be a reason they found an unranked lightweight for his next fight, right? Clearly Haymon or Angel or someone doesn't think much of Danny at the moment to dig so deep for someone he can look good against. If Danny won, why is he fighting Rod Salka?
