Comments Thread For: Jhonny Gonzalez Looking at Return in August, September

Jhonny Gonzalez (56-8, 47KOs) is already back in the gym, preparing to return to the ring as early as August or September.

The World Boxing Council Featherweight champion successfully defended his crown last month against Clive Atwell in Acapulco. Since then the challenges have been pouring in. There has been some mentions of a battle with Jorge Arce, but several other boxers are trying to get a shot at Gonzalez as well. [Click Here To Read More]

If he fights Arce he will blast him to oblivion. Perhaps that's the only way Arce would stay away from the sport for good and enjoy his retirement. Anyway I would love to see Jhonny G. vs Vasyl Lomachenko.

Walters is powerful and a solid fighter so that would be nice. Donaire showed his hand in the Rigo fight, he struggles against fast boxers that pick their shots. Loma is fast with his hands and on his feet, he is also very technical in his approach and works both the body and head very well. Gradovich vs Loma is really the fight i would love to see due to their contrast in styles.

One thing about Jhonny that kills me is his inconsistency between fights. At times he will look like a world class beater but other times he will be challenged to overcome fighters whom shouldn't provide much resistance. Anyway I think Jhonny would test Lomachenko's chin if he manages to land something significant. Loma can very well cruise to a UD but seeing as how Jhonny doesn't have the best chin, he has a strong possibility to KO him. The fight is a 50/50 in my eyes if Gonzalez shows up well prepared and composed for Loma.

I want to see Gonzalez fight Gradovich, Lomachenko, Donaire, or Walters. If he can't get any of those fights he might as well move up to 130 and try to win another title. Arce get KTFO, that fight is just a waste of time.

According to Dan Rafael. TR is talking about having a feather weight tournament with their fighters and are trying to get Gonzalez in the mix on HBO.

Why is Jhonny Gonzales ranked the highest featherweight among Ring, Espn, fight-news, etc.

He has 8 loses and was KO by Gerry Penalosa, Toshiaki Nishioka & Israel Vasquez.
