Comments Thread For: Lara: A Well Prepared Gamboa Beats Crawford in 4 or 5

WBA 'regular' junior middleweight champion Erislandy Lara (19-1-2, 12KOs) is backing his Cuban countryman, Olympic gold medal winner Yuriorkis Gamboa, to unseat WBO lightweight champion Terence Crawford - as long as Gamboa comes well prepared for the fight.

The two lightweights, with identical records of 23-0 and 16 knockouts, will collide in an HBO televised main event on Saturday night from the CenturyLink Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Gamboa is coming off a one year layoff, while Crawford has been in action twice during that time period.

An if he doesn't, he wasn't prepared?

I believe that Gamboa will win but I can't see him getting a stoppage.

Chance for the Cuban fighters to make a huge statement in Pro Boxing over the next few weeks:

              Gamboa vs Crawford
              Lara vs Canelo
              Mike Perez vs Bryant Jennings

Will be interesting, all are good enough to easily pull off the upsets.

I give much respect to all those fighters for just fighting each other in this DIVA ERA OF BOXING in which guys are not fighting each other for some of the dumbest reasons

Good fights and like you said, nothing but respect to the fighters for actually facing difficult challenges instead of the constant over-matched atrocities the top promoters have been feeding us these past few years.

On topic, I love Gamboa and his blistering speed it's just his inconsistency in the ring that often gets him in troubling situations. His last 2 bouts he has been quite lackluster in performance while Crawford has managed to win a belt overseas and is constantly putting up good showings. Good luck to all the Cuban fighters in their upcoming fights, it's nice to see fights at such an elite level of skill and competition every once in a while lol.
