Comments Thread For: Gamboa: We Wanted Garcia, Crawford Just as Good

Ring activity and marketability have been hard to come by in recent years for Yuriorkis Gamboa, but one thing the unbeaten former featherweight champ doesn’t lack is confidence.

Few fighters in the sport would be as willing to step up in class following a year-long layoff, and against an opponent who differs in every way to the one he was expected to fight. Yet Gamboa doesn’t have a care in the world heading into his June 28 showdown with unbeaten lightweight titlist Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford, marching into his opponent’s hometown of Omaha, Nebraska for their HBO headliner.

Garcia ducked Gamboa twice. Let's see if he ducks the winner of this fight.

Robert Garcia and Mickey are just scared of the Cubans since casamayor koed Robert , Richard Abril exposed the punching bag of Brandon rios , and rigondeaux exposed the joke of ducknaire .
Mickey wouldn't fight Gamboa , he is just a built up .

Gamboa should move up to 140 already..this Mikey Garcia fight ain't happening...

Gamboa against one of these 140 pounders would be interesting... Gamboa v. Algieri then winner fights Pac.. I know..I know...but Arum is all in-house..so I was being realistic...

Gamboa is in no position for anyone to "duck" him or for him to choose an opponent he is an over weight inactive fighter with little fanbase.

But what if he wins doe??????

Gamboa if loses he should go down to 126. He went up in weight to fight lucrative fights but didn't find them. 126lbs it's where it's at now.

If he wins it means he beat a bigger fighter who was highly regarded but he is a FW, the guy is like 5'2" FFS!

Garcia didn't want to fight Gamboa in 2011, he ran from it again in 2014....it is what it is.
