Andre Ward is a FOTY candidate for ESPN's ESPY awards

ESPN is so boxing savvy. What great knowledge of the sport, only true boxing fans would know Ward had one of the three best years last year after beating Edwin "Roy Jones III" Rodriguez.

    Seriously?!

I checked and yes you are serious…

There are so many other fighters that deserved that nomination. Whoever added him to the list should be ashamed of themselves.

Don't get me wrong. Im not bashing the man, he has world class talent. But this is just not right.

He's American and fights (commentates actually) on HBO. It's still surprising though. You could name at least one fighter in every division more deserving than him.

And considering its more so a popularity contest, how is Ward even on that list?

Its as if they just looked at Dan's rankings and said-ooh he's a top p4p guy so he must have had a great year.

This is ridiculous and shamefule even though the ESPY's don't matter.

Is it because he is a black American and apparently HBO thinks that helps his case? I'm sure they are getting some money from HBO or Ward to even have him in the conversation, but this is just bull****, I'm actually insulted as a boxing fan. I know popular fighters get a lot more exposure whether they are good or bad but Andre is not popular or even ****ing active. He's had what 2 fights in 4 years? The guy is a ****ing joke and a horrible announcer as well... he should just fight Tarver for the announcer role on HBO, I hope he loses too he sucks all the way around.

Meh. Mayweather and Pacquiao have won every award in history and will do so again.

ESPN and HBO have a corporate partnership since 2012/3. Maybe you have a point.

Why not go Golovkin? He's fought more and Teddy Atlas is all about Golovkin. We all know Mayweather will win, but Ward is just strange for the third boxer on that list.
