This is some bull****. The matchmakers are really letting us down. Jacobs/Fletcher is respectable, but the other two are trash. How did they manage to make a worse match-up than Broner/Molina? I didn't think they would stoop THIS low. 140lb is my favorite division and I've never heard of Rod Salka or Edgar Santana.
Who in the blue hell is Rod Salka? According to Boxrec, he's a lightweight who lost to Canelo's brother and is more feather-fisted than Paulie.
BROOKLYN - Golden Boy Promotions is back at Barclays Center on Saturday, August 9, with a SHOWTIME CHAMPIONSHIP BOXING® tripleheader featuring the sport's brightest young stars in pivotal world title fights. Boxing on Brooklyn's biggest stage will be Unified Junior Welterweight World Champion Danny "Swift" Garcia who will meet "Lightning" Rod Salka, IBF 140-Pound Titleholder Lamont Peterson who will face New York's Edgar "El Chamaco" Santana and Brooklyn's own Daniel "Miracle Man" Jacobs will challenge Australia's Jarrod "Left Jab" Fletcher for the vacant WBA World Middleweight Championship.
I'm waiting for the punch line and for them to admit is was just a joke. I thought Garcia was finally going "home", just like the song they kept playing, because Philly wasn't his real home......that lasted for what a week, lol. When most people say they are going home, they actually intend to stay there.
I'm not sure this is answering questions about the future of Golden Boy the way that De La Hoya thinks it is. I don't consider dragging Rod Salka up from the lightweights, a high profile fight. Herrera must have worked a serious number on Danny for him to want this kind of pushover fight.
How can they say that this is a stacked card and keep a straight face. Wow this is just an all around horrible card and I gotta say that Danny Garcia just keeps getting worse and worse and more and more protected with each fight. This is just aweful, I hope nobody tunes in to watch to send them a message.
And people were complaining about that because of the platform. Vera and Rosado is a good fight wherever it takes place. On the other hand, this card is a slap in the face. This is the only time where I'm actually looking forward to the ratings.
