    Choosing boxing gloves for bf

    Hello everyone,

I know nothing about boxing gloves and need help.

My boyfriend used to box competitively but has stopped for 3 years. I think he might get back into it recreationally and I thought boxing gloves would be a nice random gift to get him.

I went to the store briefly and the guy recommended Venum Challenger 2 and so I bought them. Just looked it up online and saw that they have done a markup here in Hong Kong at double the price you can get it in the states-- so to me the actual price suggests they’re not as great/ good in quality? How are they actually?

There were also a ton of other ones that looked more aesthetically pleasing in my opinion, and since they’re all marked up so much, I might as well get something that’s at least perceived as pretty decent.

What do you recommend me to get for him just for recreational use?

Also, does it make a huge difference if I get 12oz vs 14 oz vs whatever else?

    Thanks a lot! =]

My ex girlfriend bought me a pair of Winnings for my birthday.

It was probably one of the best gifts I've ever received.

    What is your budget?

      nice idea for a gift,

it depends on what he'll use them for, different gloves are used for different types of training. like for sparring you really need at least 14 oz gloves, and some people like 12 oz instead of 14 oz for bag/pad work. I just use 16 oz Everlast pro training gloves for all my training, but I would recommend getting something like Winning lace ups if you can afford them because they're good for wrist and overall hand protection. you don't want your man wrecking his hands

        Hi! Thanks for the reply.

My budget is around 200 if they're worth it. Is that enough to get decent ones...?

Because they mark everything up at double here. so the Venum ones i just happened to pick up were marked at 100 then i saw on amazon were only worth 50..... can't refund so might as well spend more on ones that are better. though i don't even know if he'll use them.... I guess worst case you could just put them there to look at if they're at least nice looking.

More padding so when he hits you with them there is less damage

Get 16 Oz the f are you sparring with under 16 oz for. Do not get Venum those are ****, I suggest Winning(expensive but worth it), Cleto reyes,
              Grant or Rival.

Venum isn't bad for the price at all but it's mainly an MMA brand so it probably won't have many fans on here. It's perfectly adequate if he's just getting back into it.

Of course Winnings are nicer, they're $300+.

16 oz for sparring for the sake of your partner.

As light as you can find for heavy bag so you get some feedback.
