Not saying canelo couldn't go on to be great but it was already structured for him to be a star before he earned it. Meanwhile more talented fighters take a backseat . I loved it when Rigo / schooled donaire . Same situation , different HNIC . Arum no better ,boxing would be better without them.
The only hype job that is going to take a loss is Lara... Ppl on here actually think he's a threat to mayweather and will school canelo... I wasn't sold on Canelo until after the Angulo fight.. Now I think he's a beast and pacquiao's Lara...

Seems Lara has his whole career on the line for this fight and taking it personally .technically sound fighter with this much reason to get win . Won't be easy for canelo if Lara chin can with stand C.A punching power . Unless it goes to score cards . That's a different story.

I wouldn't exactly call Lara a hype job mainly because he is basically a unknown to the casual fight fan . Those that know of him know his ability to box his ass off while being a very technically sharp fighter. you can't deny that . Last time canelo fought someone with simaliar ability C.A didn't really land anything . I wasn't sold on canelo till after the Angulo fight also . Ca looked very good but I still question Alfredo s efforts that night. I won't be upset if Lara gets knocked out . I'm just happy he got the fight he very much wanted and deserved .

being a "better" boxer means nothing

Lara isn't a draw. like most Cuban boxers he's great but the majority of boxing fans don't like the Cuban style.

Canelo has fans and bring a lot of money to the table, so of course he'd get a lot of attention from GBP. if Lara thinks Haymon will take care of him anymore he's S.O.L.

Cubans don't support their boxers like Mexicans and Puerto Ricans and Cubans usually would rather box than take risks for the KO, which doesn't endear them with the fans.

if you don't have a big ethnic following you have to either play the bad guy like Mayweather, be a KO artist or a blood and guts warrior.

the hardcore will always love a great boxer but their aren't enough hardcore fans to drive the ratings or PPV sales. just look at Rigondeaux, on this site you'd think he was one of the most popular boxers ever but when he fights the ratings drop and people leave the arena. the hardcore just isn't enough to support these great pure boxers.

Lara, who is advised by Al Haymon, is apparently included in the group of boxers who are fighting under the Golden Boy Promotions banner but don't actually have a binding promotional contract with their company. [Click Here To Read More]
